Fostering Creativity: Art and Music
The Digital Concert Hall

In January 2009, the Berliner Philharmonie entered a new era in concert broadcasting. High-definition microphones and remote controlled cameras now record performances of Berliner Philharmoniker and broadcast them live as a video stream over the Internet via its Digital Concert Hall portal. This innovative project opens the doors of the Berlin Philharmonie to lovers of classical music around the world: It is enabled and actively supported by Deutsche Bank in an exclusive partnership.

Each season, more than 30 concerts of the Berliner Philharmoniker are transmitted live in the Digital Concert Hall. The program features not only the world famous orchestra of Sir Simon Rattle but also other renowned guest conductors and soloists. For those who have missed a live performance or would like to experience one again, all recorded concerts are available in the video archive. In many ways, the Digital Concert Hall differs from other video platforms in the Internet: Its live experience and brilliant visual and audio quality are unique, raising the bar for artistic and technical achievement.

Statement Dr. Josef Ackermann
But the Digital Concert Hall is unique not only from an artistic and technical perspective; it is a huge social innovation as well. It enables the public at large to experience classical music at the highest possible level. The Digital Concert Hall transcends national borders, overcomes social hurdles and provides access for people of all origins and ages.

The Digital Concert Hall is a featured item on the Deutsche Bank homepage. In August 2009, more than 4,000 music fans were able to view the opening concert for the first time ever live on db.com – a world premier! The success story is now entering its second year: During the Japan tour of the orchestra, a live concert will be transmitted live on the Deutsche Bank country site Japan.

Experience a new dimension of music – at any place and any time!
