Deutsche Bank’s long-standing commitment to arts in Singapore has again been recognized when the Bank was conferred the Friend of Heritage Award by the National Heritage Board (NHB) at the recent Patron of Heritage Awards 2009. The Patron of Heritage Awards recognizes organizations and individuals who have demonstrated continuous support to the promotion of artistic activities which have a significant impact on the artistic development in Singapore.

The Deutsche Bank Art Bus. Bringing children to the Singapore Art Museum.

The award acknowledged Deutsche Bank’s partnership with the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) to launch Singapore’s first ever Art Bus program. Work with SAM started last March and the Art Bus was launched last October. The one-year initiative is part of Deutsche Bank’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility program under its "Fostering Creativity" pillar and is aimed at fostering talent and promoting artistic development among children and young talent in Singapore. Since then, the Art Bus has garnered sustained interest from schools in Singapore and the Bank will continue to enhance the program together with SAM for 2010/11.

To-date, more than 1000 children from Singapore schools and beneficiaries from some charities have participated in this program. Apart from providing free transportation to ferry the participants to the museum and back, the Bank’s commitment also included subsidizing the fees for the art program and classes. With a focus on nurturing talent among children in Singapore, the objective is to make art education more accessible for them and provide an avenue to develop their understanding and appreciation of contemporary art. The initiative goes hand-in-hand with SAM’s commitment to audience development for the appreciation of contemporary art.
