Global Business Services is the Bank's client services and transaction processing organisation. It ensures that trades are settled in a timely, cost efficient manner, that risk is minimised and that the client experience is positive. GBS predominantly supports CIB, but also provides business services across the Bank. Spread across multiple product groups including Derivatives, Securities, Global Finance & Foreign Exchange, Cash & Trade Loans, Trust and Securities Services, as well as cross-product functions and utilities, GBS strives to do things smarter, more quickly and more effectively.
Using a "follow the sun" model to provide seamless service across time zones, GBS processes transactions worth hundreds of billions of euros every day, across all major currencies and markets. With over 14,000 employees, GBS aims to grow the Bank's profitability through efficient trade processing, offering world-class services and minimising operational and reputational risk.
In 2005, the Bank started a journey to radically transform its global client services and transaction processing operating model - it was called SOM (Structured Operating Model). Today, through SOM, GBS not only delivers over €500m in efficiency value to the bank every year; but also through its global network of market leading processing and business centres, the SOM operating model provides the organisation with highly flexible processing resiliency, which gave Deutsche Bank critical advantage during the market crisis.
