A type of barrier. Such barriers can be integrated into, for example, warrants or certificates. If the underlying goes above or below the barrier, the knock-out product expires and becomes worthless. Some knock-out products have an additional integrated stop-loss limit at which the warrant or certificate expires, but the investor receives a rebate for the residual value that depends on the distance to the knock-out barrier.
