Deutsche Bank main sponsor of Frieze for the 6th consecutive year
Inspect the remains of a cultural meteorite crashed into a tent, watch a Danish film that treats the financial crisis as a neurosis, discuss String Theory, stroll through a sculpture park, savour a lamb cutlet from Hix's Oyster Bar or take a test ride in a new BMW. Even if you are not a diehard contemporary art lover, there's bound to be something that will entertain you at Frieze Art Fair from 14-18 October. It's a giant tent in Regent's Park, London, filled with challenging and often provocative works from top galleries worldwide, and the film, dance, music and lectures that happen alongside the art make for an unmissable event.
Frieze is one of the biggest international contemporary art fairs. Last year, 68,000 visitors attended the fair showcasing works from 150 international galleries.
The success of Frieze is largely due to the tremendous response this highly public-oriented fair enjoys each year in the UK capital. Frieze r has developed since its beginnings in 2002 from an ambitious newcomer project into one of the most important art events worldwide. During so-called "Frieze Week", London is transformed into a Mecca for art fans from around the world who can experience young art all around the city: at several parallel fairs, in museums, institutions, galleries, or in the public arena.
Speaking recently about the partnership with Frieze, Pierre de Weck, Member of the Group Executive Committee and Head of Private Wealth Management at Deutsche Bank, said: ‘We are pleased to show our commitment to the development of contemporary art through our continued sponsorship of Frieze Art Fair. Seven years ago, the organisers of Frieze spotted the need for a fair that fostered the new international spirit in art. Frieze has played its part in making it easier for artists from every part of the globe to claim an international reputation. Not only does Frieze provide one of the most exciting marketplaces, but it believes in art education, something that we are strongly committed to at the Fair through the Deutsche Bank Education Space”.
