Global Logistics Services

Global Logistics Services provides world class travel, sourcing, real estate and facilities management services to deliver superior commercial value for the Bank.

GLS's 565 employees provide services across DB - in the last year, it has reached 1 million online meeting and event invitations, processed 600,000 invoices, arranged 586,000 business trips, planned and installed more than 8,000 DB New Workplace desks, and delivered almost €361m of cost savings in 2010. GLS also plays a critical corporate stewardship role by governing our relocation and outsourcing activities.

This year, GLS completed two major capital projects: The Deutsche Bank Towers in Frankfurt, our company headquarters, and the refurbishment of 12 floors of the International Commerce Centre, Hong Kong's tallest building. By incorporating, db New Workplace, in line with IES's end-user strategy, these offices use space and resources much more efficiently, providing a more flexible working environment that uses 80% less power than traditional workstations.

Environmental considerations have been a priority in both of these projects: the ICC building now uses 10% less power and carbon and 40% less potable water; electricity and water consumption in the Deutsche Bank Towers have been reduced by 55% and 74% respectively.

Sustainability is a major focus for GLS. By focusing on areas such as green building standards and leases, water conservation, recycling and waste reduction GLS has helped shrink DB's global carbon footprint by 20 percentage points every year since 2007. GLS's solar power effort is well underway; improvements to DB's Piscataway facility alone reduce carbon emissions by 145 tonnes annually and will enable it to create more power than it consumes. Most recently, the GLS CRES team has partnered the Bank's client-facing teams by contributing technical expertise to the Federal Republic of Germany / KfW initiated 'Global Climate Partnership Fund'.
