BestSign: How to securely approve your bank orders

There are 2 steps involved in setting up a BestSign procedure: Create and activate. Don’t worry! We will guide you through each step of the process in online banking or in the app.

A BestSign procedure is set up once only. You can then use it to approve as many orders as you wish. Secure and convenient.

If you already have an active BestSign procedure, the best way to activate your new BestSign is by scanning the QR code that we can send to your previously activated BestSign.

If you would like to activate BestSign on an Android device, you can also do this using your Deutsche Bank Card (debit card) with the girocard logo. Requirement: You need to have already used your card and entered your PIN at least once, either when shopping or at an ATM (to initially activate your card) as well as have activated the NFC function on your mobile phone.

Both options are fast and secure.

If you have opened a new account, you can also activate your first BestSign with a one-time TAN that you can receive by SMS.

Or you can activate BestSign the traditional way. Request an activation code by post. For security reasons, the code will arrive in a letter. It usually takes around 2–3 working days.

To use BestSign, first create a BestSign procedure. This can be on your smartphone, tablet or on a (chargeable) security device.

You can create a BestSign procedure in the Deutsche Bank app (we recommend this); then you will have your mobile online banking and your security procedure in one place – whether on your smartphone or tablet.

Or you can use a (chargeable) additional device from our external partner.

Approve order

Once fully set up, you can use BestSign to approve your orders (e.g. transfers, but also logging in to online banking). You will receive a request for approval via BestSign for every order you create.

Select "Security Procedures" (under "Login & Security") in your profile in the Deutsche Bank app. Click on the "BestSign" tab and then on "+ Create New Procedure". Follow the instructions until the new security procedure is activated.

You can activate your new BestSign procedure with your existing photoTAN procedure or alternatively request an activation code by mail. Activating the BestSign procedure will delete your photoTAN procedure.

You can then also remove your photoTAN app.

Download the Deutsche Bank app to your new smartphone. Then follow the instructions to set up the app.

Have you been using photoTAN up to now? Then select “Login & security – Security procedure” in your profile. Then click on “Create new procedure” under BestSign. Follow the instructions until the new security procedure is activated. If you still have your existing mobile phone to hand, you can activate the BestSign procedure using photoTAN. Activating the BestSign procedure will delete your photoTAN procedure. If you don’t have your old mobile phone, you can alternatively request an activation code by post.

Have you been using BestSign up to now? If you have your previous mobile phone to hand, select the “QR code” option for activation in the app on your new smartphone. As the camera opens on your new smartphone, a QR code will be displayed on your previous one. As soon as you scan this QR code, BestSign will be activated and ready for use. If you don’t have your

It depends. Before you delete a BestSign, you should always make sure that you have at least one other BestSign activated in order to still be able to approve your orders.

You can also use your previously activated BestSign, for example, to create a new BestSign security procedure. You can activate your new BestSign by scanning the QR code that we can send to your previously activated BestSign.

We recommend deleting any BestSign procedures that you no longer use, e.g., any you might have on an old smartphone or tablet. You can find an overview of the BestSign procedures stored for your Deutsche Bank ID in your profile under “Security procedures”.
