How do I activate a device for the photoTAN procedure?

The activation of a new photoTAN device is executed in four easy steps:

1. Order an activation letter

By click on the button "Order activation letter" you can order the activation letter. It will be sent to you via mail and will contain a uniquely generated key for your account in form of a colored graphic.

2. Download the photoTAN app for free or order a photoTAN device.

Download the photoTAN app for your smartphone (Android or iOS).

In preparation for our banking upgrade in August 2025, photoTAN devices will no longer be available for order from July 2025. Please use the photoTAN app, which is available in the app stores. If you cannot use an app, please contact our customer service on +49 69 910 10025.

3. Enter the activation code

As soon as you have received the activation letter via mail, please scan the graphic which is printed on the letter with your smartphone or your photoTAN device. An activation code will be displayed on your device. This code needs to be entered in the section "Services / Security Procedures" within the Online-Banking. The Online-Banking now displays a photoTAN.

4. Activate your photoTAN device

To activate your photoTAN device please scan the graphic displayed in the Online-Banking with your smartphone or your photoTAN device and confirm the order on your device.
